We make Easing, one of the options below, and it isn't out yet. Facts about the other apps come from their UK App Store listings, checked 29 October 2026.

How much does Migraine Buddy cost?

The download is free. Premium is MBplus, and the UK App Store lists these plans:

  • Monthly: £9.99 or £12.99
  • Two months: £24.99
  • Yearly: £67.99 or £89.99, with some listed as 30% or 50% off and one without a free trial

The listing marks pattern views, the Good Days Guide, coaching and an estimate of how long your current attack may last as premium. Attack recording, the diary export and MIR export, and the community aren't marked premium.

Why people look for an alternative

Usually one of three reasons. The price, above. The data: Migraine Buddy's privacy label lists email, user and device IDs, usage data, coarse location and health data, with "Developer's Advertising or Marketing" among the purposes, all marked as not linked to you. Or the size: a community, news, questionnaires and coaching, when you only wanted a diary.

It's fair to say what it does well, too. It has been on the App Store since March 2015, it was updated on 27 October 2026, it runs on iPhone and iPad in 9 languages, and it has a 7-day weather forecast, automatic sleep recording and two kinds of export for doctors.

Cheaper and on your phone: Cephalo

Cephalo is newer, first released in August 2025, and iPhone only. Its free diary keeps your full history with no cap and backs up to a JSON file. Plus, at £2.99 a month or £24.99 a year, adds a doctor-ready PDF, pattern views and weather views. If you only need a report for one appointment, a single purchase gives you the PDF for 14 days.

Fastest to log: Migra

Its listing says full access needs Migra Pro, from £5.99 a month or £6.99 a week, so it isn't the cheap option. What it has: one tap to log, an ultra-dim "Migraine Mode", an Apple Watch app, pressure change alerts and PDF reports. The listing says your health data never leaves your device; its privacy label lists device ID, usage data and diagnostics for analytics, not linked to you.

More than migraine: Bearable

Bearable tracks mood, symptoms, sleep, energy, medication and your cycle, for many conditions. It's not migraine-specific, and its privacy label lists contact info and identifiers under "Data Used to Track You". Data is encrypted on its servers.

A plain, private diary: Easing

Ours, and not out yet: Easing is coming soon to the App Store. It's iPhone only and English only, with no Apple Watch app and no community. It's a diary: log an attack in a few taps, end it when it's over, see your month, and make a PDF. Logging, the calendar, insights and the basic PDF are free, with no account, no ads and no analytics.

Stay with Migraine Buddy if

You use the community, you want iPad, a 9-language app or a weather forecast, or your neurologist asked for an MIR export. None of the alternatives here does all of that.
